International Workers’ Memorial Day 28th April 2021

 You are invited to commemorate this year’s Blackburn Workers Memorial Day with us at 7pm on Wednesday 28th April.

Over the last year we have seen thousands of people and workers worldwide become victim to the deadly Corona virus.  Our NHS system has been stretched to the limits and our NHS and public service workers have performed miracles to keep people alive and safe.

It is estimated that 17,000 frontline health workers across the globe have died due to the virus.  This is besides the hundreds of workers, young and old, men and women, who die in workplace “accidents” and tens of thousands who die of occupational diseases.

The theme for this year’s commemoration is ‘A Fundamental Rights to Safe and Healthy Work’.

 To help us commemorate International Workers Memorial Day on Wednesday will be;

  • Terry Renshaw a leading Shrewsbury 24 campaigner
  • Peter Middleman, NEU Regional Secretary
  • Lee Morgan Branch Secretary of Lancashire Care Trust
  • Frontline NHS workers dealing with the Covid virus
