Let’s Vaccinate the Borough
It is pleasing to see locally that the vaccination programme is in full swing and lots of credit has to go to our NHS colleagues for delivering such a complex programme.
The NHS is one of this country’s greatest and cherished institutions and they are once again dong us proud. But the NHS can’t do it alone and our members are playing a key role in supporting them.
UNISON doesn’t think that people should be forced to be vaccinated, but as a union we are encouraging every member to get the vaccine when they have the chance.
It is the best route out of the pandemic. This blog from national is very good. Vice president James Anthony – a frontline NHS worker – has had his first dose, so he answered a few questions.
We are coming to the end of HeartsUnion week. It is a celebration of the past, present and future of the trade union movement. Without unions, many of the rights we have at work would have not existed. Unions play an vital role in communities as well. And as democratic institutions, they reflect what their members want. We are all the union.
So as the week draws to a close, please tell your colleagues, your friends and your family why unions are a force for good. We all can make the case for joining a union.
Annual General Meeting
By necessity, we have to do our AGM a little differently this year. It is always great to see everyone face to face and last year’s AGM was a big success but tough times mean we have to meet virtually.
We would really appreciate it if you can attend. It’s one of the key meetings of the year and gives members a chance to hear about the work your branch officers have done, what the branch has achieved and a look forward to the year ahead.
