It’s certainly been a very challenging time over the last 18 months, for some of us we have had to adapt to ever changing circumstances whilst others have had to carry on as normal.

Our Branch and staff members have continued to support our members but we have been faced with a completely different way of working and have not had the same face to face contact with our members.

Stand Up and Walk for Social Care

A group of UNISON social care colleagues will begin their 3 day walk this Friday 1st October from Burnley Town Hall, Manchester Road starting at 7.30am finishing in Blackburn at  approx 12.30pm.

If you are able to come and see them off that would be great but if not please give them a clap,  a toot or a wave along the way.

All UNISON North West Women members are invited to join a FREE Learning Lunch on Domestic Abuse being hosted by UNISON North West Women’s Committee from 11.30am-1pm on Wednesday 6th October 2021.

The aims of the Learning Lunch are to:

  • Encourage people to start talking about domestic abuse and its impact on the workplace
  • Assist organisations to produce a clear employer workplace policy (or review an existing policy)
  • Encourage the recruitment and training of domestic abuse champions

 

Home and work issues can’t always be neatly separated.

Don’t forget to vote in the pay consultation – Council & School Workers

Council & Schools Workers

The deadline to vote in the pay consultation is 24th September 2021.

The recommendation is to vote REJECT.

The offer is 1.75%,  with inflation at 3.8% this is a pay cut not pay rise.

Mandatory Vaccinations in Social Care: A Trade Union Response

UNISON North West will be holding an online meeting on Wednesday 22 September, at 6:00 pm, to discuss the introduction of mandatory vaccinations within residential social care. Please find further details at the bottom of this email and attached.

From 11th November 2021, unless exempt, all individuals entering CQC-registered care homes in England will have to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
