Workers Memorial Day

In April, I virtually attended a local Workers Memorial Day event, organised by Blackburn and Districts Trades Council.

In normal circumstances, the annual event is marked by a gathering by the memorial tree at the Sudell Cross end of Northgate, Blackburn, with attendees given the chance to reflect on those who have lost their lives at work through accidents or sickness.

Ever thought about taking on the role of a rep, H&S, Equality Rep?

Whatever your problem at work, UNISON workplace representatives (reps), stewards and other activists work together to protect the interest of members.

Two of the key roles are organising and recruiting new members. Organising means working with members to solve problems together, listening to members’ views, and promoting democracy and participation.

NJC Pay Offer

The Employers’ Side of the NJC  has responded to the trade unions’ pay claim, with a pay offer of 1.5%, and completion of the outstanding work of the joint term-time only review group.

The Employers also responded to various elements of the unions’ conditions claim.
