Successful Skills for Strength convention back in the new year

UNISON will hold a  Skills for Strength convention in central Manchester on Saturday, March 12, 2016, following this year’s successful event.

On March 7, over 130 UNISON activists joined in Manchester for a day of workshops, skills -based training and debate.

UNISON would love to see you there and hear about what you’ve been up to, how things are progressing in your workplace and share ideas about how we can face the challenges of building our union in difficult times.

In addition to inviting a plethora of experienced speakers and trainers from across the trade union movement, organisers are hoping to hold a number of workshops driven and inspired by  the UNISON activists and are currently gathering ideas from branches, service groups and self-organised-groups from across the North West.

You can register for a place free online at www.unisonnw.org/skillsforstrength.

The feedback from this year was fantastic – here’s what some attendees said about March’s event.

“Brilliant speakers and workshops – the day had a great momentum”

“Excellent convention – a very successful pilot that should be built on.  Excellent workshops – speakers were quality and made you look at organising from different angles/different techniques.  Very well organised.”

UNISON expects that next year’s event could be oversubscribed, so please register for a place early if you’d like to attend.

Tickets for the event are free, but if you would like to claim travel expenses you will need to arrange this through the Blackburn with Darwen branch.
