Liverpool Pride will take place this year on Saturday 30th July. As usual, we have arranged for a UNISON contingent to be present in the march and all UNISON members and their friends and family are invited to march with us.
The march will muster from 1100 hours at St. George’s Plateau, opposite Liverpool Lime Street train station and will depart at midday. The march is a fantastic way of engaging with the public and keeping the politics in pride and a large UNISON contingent will demonstrate our commitment to LGBT equality. We will have flags and banners on the day however branches are encouraged to bring along their branch banners as well.
Events like Liverpool Pride are vital for achieving social equality, which is unfortunately far behind the legislative equality that we have fought for and won over the last few decades and we therefore ask your branch to consider what it can do to support Liverpool Pride. This could include
- Making a financial donation to Liverpool Pride
- Publicising Liverpool Pride to your members
- Encourage members to volunteer with Liverpool Pride
As well as marching, we will be holding a stall at Liverpool Pride throughout the day and UNISON activists are welcome to join us on the day. For further details, please contact James Bull, firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are continuing our support for Pride at the Pictures and this year we are also supporting the campaigns zone at Liverpool Pride, being held at Jack Jones House. In particular, we are pleased to be working with LGBT Labour to deliver an LGBT hustings for the Labour Party Merseyside mayoral election, which will take place on Friday 29th July, 1900 hours at Jack Jones House and we encourage LGBT members and allies to attend.
We look forward to seeing you at the march.
