Please see the attached flyer for the above event at Liverpool University which UNISON is pleased to be associated with.
Professor Steve Tombs has done a lot of work for and with UNISON on the impact of public service austerity – the cuts to us – particularly in local government. He is the co-author/major research contributor to the Service Group’s “Damage” series features on Environmental Health and Public Protection.
Steve has continued with this strand of research and is taking the issue to Parliament. Liverpool has been selected as the launch venue because UNISON members, facilitated by some of our Merseyside Branches, took part in the interviews and evidence sessions for the Briefing.
UNISON is fully supportive of Steve’s work, highlighting how Government plans to cut ‘red-tape’ by streamlining (or abandoning) regulation is directly responsible for a serious increase in both the risk and actual incidence of environmental health, public safety and workplace/public protection concerns.
Please bring this event to the attention of activists and members. Attendance is free but requires registration through Eventbrite (a hyperlink is contained in the attached pdf flyer).
