For an increasing number of UNISON members managing household finances isn’t just getting harder because the cost of living is increasing, they’re also struggling to deal with debt.
If you are facing problems UNISON may be able to help you. Many people who find themselves in financial difficulty are scared and either pretend it isn’t happening or find themselves too embarrassed to speak to anyone about it – yet as the old saying goes, a problem shared is a problem halved!
Do not suffer in silence, there are a number of ways of dealing with problems – contact the debt helpline on freephone 0800 389 3302. This service is free and confidential and there is no obligation involved.
Also UNISON’S charity ‘There for You’ offers confidential advice and financial assistance in the form of a grant. UNISON may be able to help with sorting out finances, advising on benefits or putting you in touch with another organisation who can help.
A grant could be made, for example, to assist with household bills, ease debts or help with a much-needed break.
