Go for Growth in November
This month is ‘Go For Growth’ campaign month, UNISON’s annual drive to get more members.
Supporting members and recruiting new people to our union and our branch is what we all do week in and week out but throughout November we give it an even bigger push.
UNISON exists for its members and the more members we have in our family, the stronger our voice is when negotiating and bargaining with employers.
We have made a great start already and have recruited several people across the Council, the community and voluntary sector and schools.
We have a target of 45 new members which I am absolutely convinced we will achieve it.
We’ll soon be going around workplaces spreading our message and highlighting the good work our reps have done and the wins we have achieved for our members. So please if you see us, don’t be shy to come and talk to us.
I hope all members get behind this initiative and help champion our fabulous union. Tell others about the support that is on offer and all our great campaigning work we are doing to improve the public services we all care about.
Let’s get as many new members as we can.
This week, I represented our branch at the memorial for Lord Adam Patel.
Lord Patel was a prominent figure from the borough and was well known for his community integration work, his love of Blackburn Rovers, the town and Lancashire.
He always looked to assist as many people as he could from across different cultures and backgrounds. He was also renowned for his tireless voluntary work.
On behalf of our branch, I gave our condolences and solidarity to his family.
