Don’t forget to vote
Ballots have dropped for the election of Unison’s next general secretary, the most senior official in our union.
It’s really important for all members to have their say as the general secretary helps shape and influence the direction of the union over the next few years.
Our branch has nominated Paul Holmes. You can find out why here: http://unisonblackburn.org.uk/blackburn-darwen-local-government-branch-nominated-paul-holmes/
To help gain a bit of a buzz around voting, please send us a selfie or picture of you posting your ballot so we can use on social media.

You may have heard about the ongoing dispute at the Rolls Royce Barnoldswick.
The proposed job losses will be devastating not just for the workers and their families but the wider community.
As members of a union we have a moral duty to show solidarity with those taking action to save their jobs.
Job losses are shocking at any time but it is shameful that this process is happening during a pandemic which has inflicted a terrible toll on people’s health and wellbeing.
On behalf of the branch and all its members, I want to express my full support for the workers in their fight.
