On Monday 2 December Social Work England takes over from the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as the new regulator for social workers in England. They have produced FAQs on the transition arrangements. https://socialworkengland.org.uk/transition-faqs/

And today UNISON recognises and celebrates the role those who work for local authorities do.

The focus of this year’s World Mental Health Day is suicide prevention.
The World Health Organisation reports that every year close to 800,000 people take their own life and there are many more people who attempt suicide. Every suicide is a tragedy that affects families, communities and entire countries and has long-lasting effects on the people left behind.

Refuse workers, trading standards officers, environmental health inspectors, youth workers, librarians, school cleaners, care assistants – and many more – deliver vital local services.
