As 2018 draws to a close we look back on a memorable year with the UK’s biggest union

January saw the union launch a campaign to encourage local government pension funds to divest from carbon – in other words, to pull their hard-earned money out of environment-unfriendly businesses.

A message from the Chair – Ben Greenwood

Christmas is round the corner so I just wanted to reflect on the past year for our branch.

Like the last few years, 2018 has been a tough and challenging year for the Branch, the wider union and the Council.

But thanks to the hard work of our branch officers, stewards, activists, and of course, members, I like to think we have made a difference and tackled the challenges we face head on.
