Just a little report back on my experience from my first ever Conference.
This was held in Southport and was all about one of the most important things that I hold very close to my heart and that is community and for the people that work for private and charitable organisations.

The Retired Members Group have organised a trip to Harrogate Flower Show on 26th April 2018.
Coach will be picking up at Blackburn Town Hall at 9am.
Tickets are £18.50 in advance plus coach costs approx. £10.

NJC Pay Offer 2018/20 – NJC Committee seeks branch views by 5 April |

UNISON members have very narrowly rejected the LGA’s pay offer, with 50.44% voting to reject.
68.18% of branches and 8 out of 11 Regions have voted to accept the offer
The UNISON NJC Committee has therefore agreed to reluctantly amend its recommendation to acceptance of the pay offer
Branches are being asked to seek member feedback on the NJC Committee’s question: ‘Do you agree with the NJC Committee’s revised decision to accept the 2018-20 NJC pay offer: Yes /No.’
The deadline for this feedback is 12 noon on Thursday 5 April 2018

The Branch
has welcomed new epilepsy guidance for staff.
The new advice has been developed by HR with the help of staff who have the common neurological condition.
The launch coincided with Purple Day, an international day for epilepsy awareness.
Epilepsy affects around 600,000 people in the UK.

A HUGE thank you to all those members that attended our AGM meetings on 8th and 22nd March 2018. It was great to see such support from our members as we understand it is not always easy to come along. Thank you to James Rupa and Jen Whalley our Regional Officers for their attendance and Alan McShane from the TUC for such an inspiring and motivational speech.

The Branch has re-arranged the AGM meeting and Quiz Night that had to be cancelled due to the bad weather.
It will now take place on 22nd March 2018 at 5.30pm in the Windsor Suite, King George’s Hall, Northgate, Blackburn.
Free Drink and Hot Supper available (potato pie/cheese & onion pie) from 6pm followed by the quiz.
