Blackburn with Darwen Branch response “We have heard of the disturbing events at Bolton Council. We find some of the actions of the Council spiteful and unhelpful for employee/management relations. All branches understand Councils up and down the country are facing tough times because of government cuts.

Dear Colleagues,
The Department for Education (DfE) is currently in the process of introducing a new national assessment and accreditation system for children and family social workers. This scheme will represent a significant change for the profession and the DfE is currently consulting on its introduction.

Derby school support staff staged the first strike on Monday 16th January in their latest round of action against contract changes that have seen some of them lose up to 25% of their wages.
Teaching assistants, school supervisors, admin staff and other support workers took strike action between 7am and 1pm – and will repeat that every day this week.

Rule changes need to be be submitted for NDC 2017 to comply with Trade Union Act regulations coming into force in February 2018
The government announced earlier this month that new rules on union political funds will come into effect on 29 February 2018 after a 12-month transition that starts on 1 March 2017.
