Working over Christmas? This is for you

Members of the public have given their messages of thanks to public sector workers who keep essential services running over the Christmas holidays.

“Thank you for forsaking your Christmas for others, it’s a noble cause”. That’s what one member of the public said when UNISON asked them if they wanted to give a message to those working at Christmas.

Remembering our president and friend Eric Roberts

Dave Prentis joined late president Eric Roberts’ family in Stevenage to pay tribute to Eric at a small family funeral.

The family asked for donations to Eric’s presidential charity, MIND Blue Light, and to the Cuba Solidarity Campaign’s Hurricane Appeal instead of flowers.

Government sets out who will be covered by 40% strike threshold

The government has listed the “important public services” and jobs which will face more stringent rules on strike ballots under the Trade Union Act 2016.

Under the regulations, certain “jobs and functions” in health, fire services, transport, education and border security will need a Yes vote from 40% of eligible members for strike action to be legal.
